Dr. Dan Quadros, known as "Dan the Goat Man," is an Assistant Professor and Small Ruminant Specialist at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. A scientist and extensionist, he specializes in translating complex research into practical, real-world applications. Raised on a Brazilian ranch, Dr. Quadros holds a PhD in Animal Science and a Master’s in Sustainability. His background includes six years of post-doctoral research at the University of Florida and Texas A&M, focusing on pastures and nutrition. Before his current role, he was a Full Professor at Bahia State University, where he founded the Animal Science Research and Extension Center and led large-scale livestock programs. His current work focuses on enhancing the efficiency and profitability of small ruminant production, improving meat quality, and expanding market opportunities. Dr. Homero Salinas-Gonzalez is an Associate Professor and State Extension-Research Specialist in Small Ruminants at Lincoln University of Missouri.  With over 30 years of experience in small ruminant production, pasture, and forage research, Dr. Salinas has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed journal articles. His work focuses on Risk management, pasture management, goat and sheep production systems, strategic planning for innovation, and business and marketing models. Dr. Salinas is a Certified trainer for FAMACHA® training by the American Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control (ACSRPC).

Brittany Scott, M.S. is CEO and co-founder of SMART Reproduction (SMART Repro), a U.S.-based, USDA-approved small ruminant semen and embryo collection center specializing in compliant international export of sheep and goat genetics. Trained in reproductive physiology, embryology, and cryopreservation, she focuses on translating complex importing-country requirements into repeatable, breeder-friendly export systems—from health and documentation frameworks to logistics execution. Brittany has successfully completed many historic first U.S. Boer goat germplasm shipments, including shipments to the continent of Africa and Italy. Her leadership has been recognized with the IETS Foundation Early Career Achievement Award (Practicing Professional) and the Arkansas Governor’s Trade Award – Woman Owned Exporter Award. She is also an agricultural technology serial entrepreneur with a prior successful venture exit. Brittany’s mission is to build international markets for U.S. sheep and goat genetics, expanding export opportunities for American producers while supporting responsible genetic improvement abroad. She frequently highlights productive U.S. goat genetics—such as the American Boer goat—as a scalable tool for improving meat production efficiency and advancing global food security. Brittany also co-founded the International Livestock Training Institute (ILTI) to expand global access to practical training, consultation, and capacity-building in livestock reproduction and production systems

State Extension Specialist & Research. Small Ruminant Program

Dr. Mohan Acharya currently serves as a state extension specialist for small ruminants at Lincoln University of Missouri. His expertise includes sheep and goat parasite control, the smart use of chemical dewormers, genetic selection for parasite-resistant sheep and goats, management practices to minimize the need for anthelmintic treatment, pasture management, minimizing anthelmintic resistance, and the use of tannin-rich forages (for example, Sericea lespedeza).

Caleb Boardman is an accomplished agricultural leader and educator with over 15 years of experience in livestock management, production, and extension. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the American Boer Goat Association, Caleb leads a nationwide organization of over 8,000 members and manages a multi-million-dollar budget.

Boardman's extensive expertise includes roles as a lecturer and livestock judging coordinator at Texas A&M University and the University of Wyoming, where he developed and led high-impact educational programs for thousands of youths and producers. He holds an M.S. in Animal Science (Ruminant Nutrition) and a B.S. in Agribusiness from Texas A&M, graduating Summa Cum Laude. As a professional livestock judge since 2008, he has evaluated all species of livestock at major shows across more than 30 states.

Holly Loncarich is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business Administration at Kansas State University, where she studies how businesses make strategic decisions that impact long-term profitability. Along with her husband, Marcus, she owns and manages a herd of ABGA-registered Boer goats near Junction City, Kansas. Her background combines practical, on-farm experience with business strategy to help producers make better marketing and herd management decisions.

Heather Gessner has worked for SDSU Extension since 2001 and is currently the Livestock Business Management Field Specialist based in the Sioux Falls Regional Extension Center.  Heather has a B.S. in Animal Science and received her Master's in Economics in 2016. Raised on a diversified family farm, Heather developed a deep passion for agriculture through raising livestock, showing cattle nationally, and producing crops. Now with the SDSU Ness School of Management and Economics and SDSU Extension, she specializes in farm finance, marketing, and taxation. Heather provides expert education in enterprise analysis, budgeting, and marketing plan creation. Additionally, she leads SDSU’s estate planning and beginning farmer initiatives and is a certified Farm Transition Coordinator through the International Farm Transition Network.
